Currently, I am listening to a great audio book called Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell, and it is AMAZING! This book is filled front to back with knowledge, insight and wisdom. While listening to it I have filled my journal with notes, quote, and other little tid-bits to say the least… Every time I listen I take away something new and striking, it’s almost like I am learning from a great teacher, but only in the palms of my hands! 😉
After countless inspirational and motivational quotes I have jotted down, one sticks out to me more so than the others. It’s about staying true to who you are at all times, and it goes like this, “Flowers don’t open and close depending on who is walking by- they show their beauty regardless. Don’t let someone else’s presence change your true nature.” Like hold up, WOW! Now that is impactful! As soon as I heard that I felt a light bulb go off in my head (Ahha!) and it struck me to my core. It made me think to myself, have I been “opening and closing” depending on who I’m with? Am I letting myself be affected by others? It really got me thinking, and this is what I have to share:
Like my post last week about judging and seeing ourselves in others, in order to show our true nature and greatness, we need to allow ourselves to be open. We shouldn’t close and open depending on who we are around. We should want to show our true greatness and true selves to anyone and everyone! It shouldn’t matter if we are talking to a CEO or a co-worker, we should be open and show our beautiful selves off! Being proud or confident is not a bad thing, it shows faith and certainty- so own it! Stop believing the lie that others are intimidating or that they will affect you, instead, see them with love and equality. We should have confidence in ourselves and let no one affect us. We want to be true to ourselves becasue that’s who we are and that’s who we know.
We need to be confident in ourselves and give us our own seal of approval. If we are looking for approval and recognition from others then, we are throwing away our own self approval and downing our self-confidence. We don’t need others approval, and we don’t need them to tell us who we are. Our beauty and greatness should be shown to all and we should always be open.
Don’t let others affect us and we’ll always be our true selves.
And this is just one of the many lessons I have learned from Rise Sister Rise. If you have any great book recommendations please, by all means, send them my way! I am always looking for books that I can learn and grow from. 🙂
Do you notice yourself opening and closing around specific people? Do you always stay true to who you are? How do you give yourself approval and recognition?
Have a great day!
and p.s. happy fall! 😉
